It has been recently discovered that Keanu Reeves has been secretly funding children’s hospitals for years. He not only donates to help children in need, but he also pays them visits to help cheer them up!
56-year-old Canadian actor Keanu Reeves is known to be one of the more generous Hollywood celebrities. Many of the people that work alongside Reeves always have something great to say about him. From taking pay cuts to ensure other actors were hired, to buying crew members gratitude gifts, Keanu always makes sure to spread good vibes wherever he goes. The actor even bought every member of The Matrix Reloaded stunt crew, 12 people, a brand new Harley Davidson motorcycle! Fame and fortune have always been tools for showing kindness to others for Keanu Reeves.
With an estimated net worth of $360 million, most of Keanu’s wealth has come from landing significant roles in Box Office hits, with trilogies such as The Matrix and John Wick. Reeves is always open to using his wealth for noble causes.
Reeves, like the rest of us, has had his fair share of ups and downs during life. His father left his family at a very young age, he lost his 23-year-old best friend to a drug overdose, and his first child was heartbreakingly a stillborn. He’s used the losses in his life to deepen his feelings of compassion for others.
The actor has had to come to terms with many difficulties, but rather than being held back by them, Keanu Reeves has decided to foster hope and light in the world.
In 1999, his sister, Kim Reeves, was diagnosed with leukemia, and thankfully with adequate medical care and treatment, she survived and was able to beat cancer. In dedication of his sister’s survival, Reeves has been supporting several foundations and research institutes to help children battling cancer for the past six years. Keanu has kept a low profile for years of his good deeds, but word started to get out.
In an interview with Ladies Home Journal, when asked about his charity work, Reeves explained, “I have a private foundation that’s been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children’s hospitals and cancer research,” He concluded by saying, “I don’t like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does.”
Besides financing the private foundation, Reeves also donates to SCORE (Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehabilitation Endowment), a charity founded to help support hockey players with spinal injuries.
Additionally, the actor is also known always to love to be of service. Reeves has been spotted operating public telephones at the 2008 telethon Stand Up to Cancer, and he’s always in the business of using his status to raise awareness on cancer and encourage others to help actively support the cause.
Keep up the good work Keanu, the world needs more wonderful people like you!
